My story
More than a store. Get everything out of your sport.
My name is Ingmar Berga. Sport has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. From 2004 to 2022, my life was largely dedicated to elite sport as a professional marathon speed skater and inline skater.
But for me, elite sport has never been just about training and racing.
I wanted to get everything out of my sport. Every training session, every race and every detail had to be right. That mindset made me increasingly interested in something that I believe is an essential part of performance: equipment.
Always focused on equipment
I have always been fascinated by equipment.
Which shoes provide the best fit? Which wheels actually make a difference? How does a different setup feel? What impact does a small adjustment have? And when does more expensive equipment really offer an advantage?
I never wanted to simply have the latest equipment. I wanted to understand why something worked better.
Over the years, I used, tested, adjusted and compared an enormous amount of equipment. Elite sport teaches you that the smallest details can make a difference. A better fit, the right setup, a stiffer or lighter component, or simply equipment that suits you better.
That search for better equipment has never stopped.
In fact, it is one of the most important reasons why Bergasports came into existence.
From elite sport to Bergasports
My years as an elite athlete taught me that there is no single perfect bike, shoe, wheelset or piece of equipment.
The best equipment is the equipment that works for you.
What matters to a competitive rider may be less important to someone who enjoys long recreational rides. And what looks like the best choice on paper does not necessarily perform that way in real life.
That is why I want Bergasports to be about more than simply selling products.
I want to understand who you are as an athlete. How you ride, what you are looking for, where you want to improve and what you ultimately want to achieve.

My experience in elite sport
From 2004 to 2022, I competed at the highest level of my sport. Those years brought great results, but more importantly, they gave me an enormous amount of experience.
Achievements
- Dutch National Champion in marathon speed skating on artificial ice — 2007 and 2013
- Open Dutch National Champion on natural ice
- Winner of the overall KNSB Marathon Cup
- European Champion in inline skating, marathon — San Benedetto, 2010
- Dutch National Champion in inline skating, marathon — 2019
- Multiple Dutch National Championship medals in inline skating — 2011, 2015 and 2016
For me, however, my results are not just about the titles.
The greatest value lies in everything I learned along the way: about training, performance, equipment, technique, preparation and making the right choices.
That experience is what I bring to Bergasports today.
Still active in sport
My elite sporting career may have ended, but my involvement in sport certainly has not.
As a coach, I still work with a new generation of marathon speed skaters. That means I continue to work with athletes, training, performance and equipment on a daily basis.
I enjoy passing on my experience and helping young athletes discover where they can still improve.
Because getting better is not always about training harder.
Sometimes it comes down to a small adjustment. A better position. A different setup. The right equipment. Or simply understanding what works for you.

That is why at Bergasports we look at your level, goals, body, riding style, current equipment and the way you actually use it.
No standard package.
No sales pitch simply because something happens to be more expensive.
